Project Meeting at Bremen – Advancing the Project Architecture

  • 21. October 2025

On 16 and 17 October 2025, the ASTIR consortium met in Bremen, Germany, for a two-day project workshop hosted by project coordinator ATB.

The meeting brought together partners from research, technology development and industrial robotics to review progress and align the next phase of the project. Discussions focused on the overall ASTIR concept, the architectural principles of the AI-augmented engineering workbench, and the integration of the different technical components being developed across the project.

A central topic was how specialised AI agents, engineering tools and external software environments can interact within a coherent architecture. The partners also examined how the workbench can support different stages of the robotics software lifecycle, including requirements engineering, system design, implementation, testing and runtime monitoring.

Ethical and trustworthy-AI considerations formed another important part of the agenda. The consortium discussed how transparency, human oversight, traceability and responsible use of generative AI should be incorporated into the project’s technical design rather than treated only as final evaluation criteria.

The workshop provided an opportunity to resolve open architectural questions, coordinate dependencies between work packages and prepare for the integration of the first prototype technologies. The outcomes will guide the continuing development of the ASTIR workbench and its application in the project’s manufacturing robotics, mobile service robotics and drone use cases.

The meeting also strengthened collaboration across the consortium and established a shared technical direction for the next implementation phase.
