ASTIR has completed the first consolidated specification of its project and technology requirements.
The requirements were developed with the project’s industrial use-case partners and translate practical robotics engineering challenges into concrete capabilities for the ASTIR workbench. They cover manufacturing systems led by KUKA, mobile service robots led by PAL Robotics, and unmanned aerial vehicles for agricultural applications led by Unparallel Innovation.
Across these environments, developers must work with complex software stacks, technical documentation, operational constraints and safety-related information. ASTIR is investigating how trustworthy generative AI can help engineers analyse this material, produce structured engineering artefacts and identify inconsistencies without removing human responsibility from the process.
The requirements address the full software lifecycle. They include AI-supported requirements analysis, architecture generation, software implementation, migration of robotics software, test generation, security review, runtime monitoring and integration with existing engineering environments.
This requirements baseline will guide the implementation, integration and evaluation of the project technologies. It also establishes traceability between industrial needs, technical components and the results that will be assessed during the project’s pilot evaluations.
